Orientation Activities: Sept. 4

Library activities for first year students and their families this Friday:

  • InfoServices Drop-in Session,10am-4pm

  • Pick up a Class of 2013 library water bottle, 1pm-4pm

  • Meet your Librarian, 1pm-2pm- Root Beer Floats, 2pm-4pm

  • Mac Links Indoor Golf Classic, 2pm-4pm


Information Services Drop In Session 10am-4pm on Friday & Saturday
Learn about registering your computer, fix issues with username/password, and more. Location: library lower level.

Pick up your official Class of 2013 library water bottle.
It's become a tradition! The annual incoming class limited edition library mug/bottle designed. This year: a water bottle featuring a quote from Barack Obama celebrating libraries. Harmon Room, main level of library.

Meet your Librarian! 1pm-2pm
Meet your librarian who will be your primary contact during your first year of study. This person can be one of your contacts when you have questions about the library resources and services. Parents are invited to meet the librarians who work with the first year seminars and serve as a resource for first year students during their first semester. Cookies and coffee will be served. Harmon Room, main level of library.

Root Beer Floats, 2pm-4pm
Bring your family and join us for afternoon refreshments. Harmon Room, main level of library.

Mac Links Indoor Golf Classic, 2pm-4pm
Putt your way alongside F. Scott Fitzgerald, Ernest Heminway, and George Orwell (or at least their novels) on our 9-hole mini-golf course which meanders through the library book stacks and between floors. Fun for all!

New Look for Library Website

On Monday, August 31st, the library website will have a new look. All the content from the existing site will still be present, it just may be in a slightly different place. So, if using existing bookmarks, some of your bookmarks may cease to work. If you need help, please contact us using our AskUs page.

Library Open House for Faculty and Staff

On Friday, August 28th, between 9:30 a.m. and 10:15 a.m.the library will be offering coffee and muffins for faculty and staff to show off our new spaces and explain all the changes that have taken place in the library over the summer. In addition to new carpet in selected areas, we've created several new spaces including:
* a reading room with the popular Harmon Reading Collection housed in that room
* a new instruction space on the lower level
* integrated the lower level computer lab to the main level

We hope you can drop by and tell us what you think!

Marvin Plaza and Library Access

The fence around the newly constructed Marvin Plaza has been taken down, and access to the library is back to normal. Bike racks are also accessible again. We appreciate everyone's patience while the work on the plaza was being completed.

Update on Library Plaza Construction

Currently, the front door is now accessible from the south side of campus. The bookdrop is also accessible once again. We appreciate everyone's patience as they work toward completion of the plaza.

CLICnet System Upgrade and WorldCat Local Implications
