Wednesday, Feb. 25th, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Co-sponsored by Sustainability Office
On Wednesday, February 25th, the library will turn off all printers, including printers in staff offices, for 8.5 hours, for just one day. In support of the Campus Energy Challenge and Recyclemania efforts, we want to call attention to the amount of printing that is done just in the library. The Sustainability Office has heard increasing concerns about the amount of printing that is done in the library and across campus and will be sharing tips on how to reduce printing. This event is a kickoff for a month-long focus on printing across campus.
During the day library and ITS staff will offer tips on saving pdfs to network accounts and demonstrate ways of highlighting and note-taking online.
Over the noon hour we invite community members to join us in the Harmon Room for a bagless "brown bag" lunch discussion. Suzanne Hansen and Terri Fishel will lead a discussion on issues related to printing reduction in the library. Together, we hope to generate new ideas and awareness for ways to print less often.
