We Read Banned Books!

September 28 - October 2 is Banned Books Week, the national book community's annual celebration of the freedom to read. The DeWitt Wallace Library celebrates this week with the following events:

  • Make a Banned Books Button Monday, 11:30am-1:30pm, Library Entrance

  • Participate in a Virtual Read-Out Wednesday, 1pm-4pm, Library Reading Room.
    Read a passage from your favorite banned book and we'll post it on the Library's Youtube channel. While there, take a mug shot holding a favorite banned book. Be proud of your dangerous reading habits!

  • On the Radio Thursday, 10am-11am, Tune into WMCN to hear the DeWitt Wallace Variety Hour spinning a whole hour of songs that have been banned or challenged in some way. 91.7 FM or wmcn.fm

  • Mac English Faculty and Students Read Banned Passages Thursday, 7pm-9pm
    Check out your favorite English faculty and students as they read passages from banned or challenged books. This event, co-sponsored by the English Department, will take place in the library's Harmon Room. Refreshments will be served.

  • Post Your Favorite Book on the Library's Facebook Page We'll tell you if it's been banned or challenged.
